He struck out five batters in six innings of work. He gave up just three hits and retired 17 out of the 24 batters he faced.
RubberDucks starter Shawn Morimando (1-1) pitched six no-hit innings as he walked just three batters and recorded seven strikeouts. He left after the sixth inning for reliever Josh Martin who pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up the lone hit of the game.
Jake Lowery hit a solo home run in the top of the 7th inning off Fightin Phils reliever Ethan Stewart (0-1) to give Akron a 1-0 lead. Todd Hankins hit a RBI triple with one out to score Justin Toole and extend the lead to 2-0.
