B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import running back Toddrick Pendland, linebacker Nic Edgson and import defensive lineman Richard Jones have signed with the team. All three will participate in rookie camp slated to begin in Kamloops on Wednesday, June 2nd before the entire squad hits the field at Hillside Stadium on Sunday, June 6th.
Highly decorated in college, Pendland finished an outstanding career at McNeese State in 2009 with a team-leading 1,021 yards and 17 TD's on 168 carries. The lofty numbers which also include another 237 yards on 10 receptions earned him a First-Team All Southland Conference selection. In 2008, the gifted ball carrier set a school single season rushing record and was named the SLC Offensive Player of the Year as he led the conference with 1,431 rushing yards and a whopping 171.4 yards of total offence per game. Pendland left McNeese State with 3,123 career yards and 37 TD's on 511 carries as well as another 751 yards on 73 receptions.
Edgson will attend his first Lions training camp after being selected by the club with the 47th overall pick in the 2007 CFL Draft. The Idaho State grad capped off his final year of eligibility in 2009 with the Bengals notching 14 tackles and a fumble recovery over 10 games.
Jones wrapped a productive four-year, 49-game stay at Texas Tech in 2009. He departed the school with 57 career tackles and three sacks.
The Lions also announced that Okanagan Suns kicker Steve Shott will handle kicking duties for the club during rookie camp. The Carson-Graham grad was good on 27 of 44 attempts for the Suns last season in addition to handling kickoff and punting duties for the BCFC team.
