
Lions Announce Slate Of Guest Coaches

Vancouver - The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that the following guest coaches will join the team for training camp in Kamloops. William Fields, Doug Geiser, Demetrious Maxie, Jim Daley and Ryan Sheahan bring decades of success and championship flavor to the club for its 60th training camp slated to start on Sunday, June 2nd presented by Sun Peaks Resort.
William Fields
Fields enjoyed a six-year CFL career including four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders from 2001 through 2004. Over 65 games with the Stamps he notched nine interceptions and 169 tackles. He moved on to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2005 and appeared in 22 games over two seasons notching another four interceptions. William is currently part-owner of Fitness University located in Texas and will assist Lions secondary coach Mark Washington.
Doug Geiser
No stranger to Lions training camp, Doug Geiser returns in 2013 to work alongside offensive line coach Dan Dorazio. Geiser is currently the associate head coach and offensive line coach at Ashland University where he's been a fixture for nine seasons. In addition to his work with the line, Geiser is also the program's strength and conditioning coordinator and a top recruiter.
Demetrious Maxie
Maxie enjoyed a brilliant 13-year CFL career as a defensive end including stops in Baltimore, Montreal, Saskatchewan, Toronto and Calgary. The Texas native finished his playing days with 70 sacks and two CFL All-Star selections in 1999 and 2000. He won four Grey Cups including three in a row from 1995 through 1997 and one with Calgary in 2008 in a football operations role. Maxie was part of the University of Texas-El Paso coaching staff for two seasons and will work Lions defensive line coach Carl Hairston.
Jim Daley
Daley brings almost 20 years of CFL coaching experience to Lions training camp and will assist special teams coordinator Chuck McMann. Last year, Daley was the special teams coordinator for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and prior to that, held the same role in Saskatchewan in 2010. Daley was also the âRiders head coach from 1996 to 1998 leading the club to a Grey Cup appearance in 1997. He was also the head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2004 and 2005.
Ryan Sheahan
Sheahan returns for another visit to Lions training camp after serving as running backs coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season. Ryan will work with Lions offensive coordinator and receivers coach Jacques Chapdelaine. Prior to his role in Hamilton, Sheahan was the assistant offensive coordinator at Queen's University. He also worked as the quarterbacks coach at Queen's from 2008 to 2010. His playing career, which also took place at Queen's spanned the 2000-2004 seasons.
First-year Lions hit the field in Kamloops for a three-day mini-camp beginning Thursday, May 30th running through Saturday, June 1st. The entire edition of the BC Lions will begin 2013 Training Camp presented by Sun Peaks Resort beginning Sunday, June 2.
The Lions kick off the 2013 campaign with a preseason tilt versus the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday, June 21 at 7:00 pm and begin their regular season home schedule on Thursday, July 4 at 7:00 pm versus the reigning Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts.
