Lincoln Sweeps Diablos in Three Game Series

July 1, 2013 - American Association (AA)
El Paso Diablos News Release

The Diablos go down in a very close three game series against the Lincoln SaltDogs 3-0. The Diablos have now finished their grueling seven game road trip and now head back home.

Starting Friday night the Diablos played a tight game against the SaltDogs but struggled offensively only pushing across four hits in the game, things were close through the first four innings but a two run inning by the SaltDogs in the fifth put the game out of reach for the Diablos, eventually losing 7-4.

Saturday night's game proved to be even more frustrating for the Diablos losing 4-1. Despite producing just as many hits as the SaltDogs (seven) the Diablos couldn't push across more than one run. Despite losing the game starting pitcher Seth Lintz had a season high 10 strikeouts going 5.2 innings, only giving up three runs on five hits.

The Sunday night series finale was the Diablos best of the series from an offensive stand point scoring five runs on twelve hits. With two innings left it looked like the Diablos would lose their third straight game to the SaltDogs, but a three run eighth inning by the Diablos tied the game up thanks to some wild pitches and an error from the SaltDogs. The tie game didn't last long though as the SaltDogs had the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth to win the game 6-5, and the series 3-0.

The Diablos finally get to head back home where the will start a seven game home stand, starting off with a four game series against the Laredo Lemurs, beginning on Tuesday.
