Wingnuts' Hinson Named Pitcher of the Month

WICHITA, KS - Wichita Wingnuts' starting pitcher Ryan Hinson has been named the American Association's Pitcher of the Month for June.

Hinson was 5-1 with a 1.41 ERA in six starts last month. The left-hander allowed two or fewer earned runs in all six outings, and pitched seven innings or more in five of them. On June 19th versus Gary SouthShore, Hinson struck out five batters to become the Wingnuts' all-time leader in that category. In his following start on June 24th versus Laredo, the 26-year-old tossed six shutout innings to earn his 26th win in a Wingnuts' uniform, tying him for the most in team history.

Hinson is 6-2 overall this season in nine starts. The six wins are tied for first in the American Association. Hinson also ranks second in ERA (1.75) and second in strikeouts (52).

Hinson is 26-15 with the Wingnuts over the last three seasons with a 3.67 ERA. The Rock Hill, SC native has pitched at least six innings in 45 of 50 starts during that stretch, and has allowed three or fewer earned runs in 33 of them.

Hinson is the fourth Wingnuts' player to earn league honors this season. Jared McDonald, David Amberson, and C.J. Ziegler have all been named Batter of the Week.
