San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose Earthquakes defender Nick Lima and midfielder Jackson Yueill have been called to the United States Men's National Team. The 28-man roster will train and compete in a friendly against Jamaica on Wednesday, June 5 at Audi Field in the nation's capital. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. PT and the match will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1, UniMas and Univision.
The Earthquakes are one of just five teams to send multiple players to the camp, joining Columbus Crew SC, LAFC, Seattle Sounders FC and Toronto FC. The final 23-man Concacaf Gold Cup roster is due by 11:59 p.m. on June 5.
The friendly represents the final tune-up for the United States ahead of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, which takes place June 15 - July 7 in the United States, Costa Rica and Jamaica. The Concacaf Gold Cup determines the continental champion of North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Lima, 24, signed a Homegrown Player contract with the Earthquakes ahead of the 2017 season and was a finalist for the MLS Rookie of the Year award in his debut campaign. He has made 68 total appearances for San Jose, tallying five goals and three assists. Lima made his USMNT debut on Jan. 27, 2019 against Panama, earning Man of the Match honors.
Yueill, 22, was acquired by the Earthquakes with the sixth-overall selection in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He has started each of the last nine matches for San Jose, leading the club to a 5-2-2 record in those contests. Yueill has earned two MLS Team of the Week honors (Weeks 9 and 12) and one Goal of the Week nomination (Week 7) already this season. He also made his U.S. U-23 debut back in March.
Lima is on the provisional Gold Cup roster while Yueill is not.
