Rockford Lightning News Release
Rockford, IL- After having to come from behind to win their last few contests, the Rockford Lightning took the lead early on against the Michigan Mayhem, and didn't look back. The Bolts cruised to the 127-103 victory on Sunday afternoon at the MetroCentre in front of 3,646 fans, the largest crowd of the season.
Rockford earned six possible quarter points, and nearly had the seven point sweep, but Michigan narrowly captured the second frame, 28-27. Jermaine Walker was 13-of-25 from the field, and he tallied 29 points in the contest to lead all scorers. Brant Bailey scored double digits as he chipped in 23 points in the effort. Walker was also the leading rebounder in the game for the Lightning, as he hauled down nine boards for the afternoon. Brian Lubeck dished out seven assists to lead the Bolts in that department. Charles Gaines led the way for the Mayhem, with 22 points in the ball game. The Rockford Lightning are on a four-game win streak, which matches their longest winning streak of the season.
"We played well together as a team. Everybody fulfilled their roles but we're not out of the woods yet. We just have to keep playing hard," says Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo.
Rockford returns to the MetroCentre to face another conference foe, the Gary Steelheads, on Tuesday, March 1. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., and all kids 12 and under with a paying adult will be half price tickets. Be one of the first 1,000 fans to receive a Marshall Phillips poster in the fourth poster giveaway of the season. To order your tickets, call the MetroCentre box office at 815-968-5222.
