Great Lakes Storm News Release

Birch Run, MI (February 28, 2005) – The Great Lakes Storm won tonight against the Michigan Mayhem 123-108 (7.0, 0.0) to move to 26-18 on the season. The Storm leads the season series 7-3 and took all seven quarter points for the fourth time this season. Michigan ended their slim chances of making the playoffs as they dropped to 16-29.

Without the services of Jermaine Jackson and Jackie Butler, who were called up earlier in the day by the New York Knicks, the Storm needed some role players to step up. Joe Dabbert was that guy as he poured in a career-high 33 points along with 13 rebounds. The first quarter went back and forth as the teams were tied at 16 halfway through the first quarter. The Storm would eventually lead by as many as nine points and won the quarter 27-21 behind 10 points from Dabbert. The Mayhem battled back to tie the game several times, however, the Storm would win the second quarter 32-30 as they went into halftime leading 59-51. The Storm maintained the lead throughout the entire third quarter and went into the final quarter leading 89-79, also winning the quarter 30-28. The Storm pushed the lead to as many as 17 points and completed the quarter-point sweep by winning the final quarter 34-29.

The Storm's next game is on Wednesday, March 2nd at home against the Gary Steelheads. Tip-off is set for 7:05 at the Birch Run Expo Center.

Game Highlights:

STORM: Joe Dabbert 33 points, 13 rebounds

Trevor Huffman 10 points, 10 assists

MAYHEM: Charles Gaines 29 points, 10 rebounds

Darrick Martin 24 points, 4-for-8 three-pointers
