TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Allen York to a two-way NHL contract for the remainder of the 2014-15 season, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
York, 25, has appeared in three games with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League this season, posting a record of 1-0-1. The 6-foot-3, 194-pound netminder made 32 saves in his season debut with Syracuse on February 7 against the Springfield Falcons. York has played in 43 career AHL games with the Crunch, Rockford IceHogs, Texas Stars, Charlotte Checkers and Springfield Falcons, compiling a record of 22-12-1 with three shutouts.
The Wetaskiwin, Alberta native has played in 11 career NHL games, all with Columbus during the 2011-12 season, registering a record of 3-2-0 to go along with a 2.30 goals-against average and .920 save percentage. York made his NHL debut on October 25, 2011 against the Detroit Red Wings in a relief effort. He won three consecutive games for Columbus from March 28-31, allowing only five goals during that stretch.
York was originally drafted by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round, 158th overall, at the 2007 NHL Draft.
