Archibald, Dea and Ruopp Assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned forwards Josh Archibald and Jean-Sebastien Dea and defenseman Harrison Ruopp to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced today.

Archibald has recorded two goals, four assists and 11 penalty minutes in 31 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. The 22-year-old rookie registered his first professional hat trick on Sunday in Wheeling's 4-1 win at Kalamazoo and overall has compiled 10 points (6G-4A) in eight games for the Nailers.

A sixth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins (174th overall) in 2011, Archibald was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award last season as the NCAA's top college hockey player after ranking third in the nation with 29 goals for the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Dea, 21, has skated in 37 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, amassing nine goals, 10 assists and 14 PIM. Currently in his first pro season, Dea has also posted two goals and an assist over eight contests with Wheeling.

Dea set career highs in 2013-14 with 49 goals for Rouyn-Noranda of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League - fourth most in the league - and ranked second on the team with 75 points. In three seasons with the Huskies, Dea totaled 192 points (111G-81A) over 183 contests.

A second-year pro from Zehner, Saskatchewan, Ruopp has appeared in two games this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and also registered one assist and 47 penalty minutes during 23 matches with the Nailers.

The 21-year-old posted 34 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Penguins last season, while recording three assists and 42 PIM in 19 games for Wheeling.

Originally selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the third round (84th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Ruopp was acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins on June 22, 2012.
