Lightning Lose Heartbreaker / Coach's Show Tonight
February 27, 2006 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Rockford Lightning News Release
Ronnie Fields led the Lightning with a season high of 42 points in a 118-122 loss to
the Albany Patroons on Sunday at the MetroCentre.
After falling behind by as many as 7 points with 8:49 remaining in the game, the
Lightning battled back to take a 5-point lead with 1:58 remaining. James Thomas
tied the game at 117 with 0:15 remaining, and it looked as if it would come down to
a Lightning shot at the buzzer for the win. Chester Mason spoiled Rockford's night
when he stole the inbounds pass and dished it to Jamario Moon for a three-point
basket with 0:07 remaining to give the Patroons a three-point lead. The game was
sealed after Marlon Parmer connected on just one-of-two free throws at the other
side of the floor and James Thomas came down and hit both to give the Patroons the
122-118 advantage.
"Its heart-breaking", said Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo. "Young players have to
learn the second half of the season is much different from the first half of the
season. And we have to start making plays down the stretch."
Fields connected on 17 of his 31 shot attempts in the night while scoring 16 of the
team's 25 points in the fourth quarter. Roger Powell added 23 points and is now
just 88 points away from breaking Kendrick Warren's record of 1,012 points in a
season by a Lightning rookie.
Parmer contributed 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 25 minutes for his
first game back since coming off the injured reserve. Cordell Henry added 13 points
in his second straight start for the Lightning.
The Lightning will host the Michigan Mayhem this Tuesday night at the MetroCentre as
they look to move back into first place in the Eastern Conference standings. Game
time is 7:05 P.M. (CST) with doors opening at 6:00. Kids tickets are half price,
and there will be a limited number of seats sold for $1.49 courtesy of WXRX. Group

815-874-4232. For single game tickets, contact the MetroCentre box office at
815-968-5222 or online at www.centreevents.com.
Lightning fans head on down to the Scoreboard Lounge located inside the Holiday Inn at 7550 E. State Street for the "Chris Daleo Show" hosted by Kristin Carlson of WNTA 1330. The show will run from 5:00-6:00 P.M. with Lightning players and coaches stopping by to show their support and meet the fans.
