Lightning assistant holds training sessions

December 1, 2005 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Rockford Lightning News Release

The newest addition to the Rockford Lightning coaching staff is also an experienced personal basketball skills trainer. Acie Earl, former NBA first round draft pick and three year starter at the University of Iowa, has joined the Lightning this season as an assistant to Coach Daleo after spending last season as the head coach of the Tijuana Dragons of the American Basketball Association. After four years in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Toronto Raptors, and a successful eight-year career playing basketball overseas, Coach Earl is looking to pass along his knowledge of basketball to the next generation.

Venom Sports Personal Basketball Training/Skills Program was originally started in his hometown of Iowa City, Iowa, but has made the move with Coach Earl to the Rockford community. The program can be tailored to any athlete, boys or girls, at any age; the only requirement is that the participant is ready to work to improve their skills. Coach Earl has worked with young children to develop fundamentals (shooting, passing, dribbling, etc...) along with college athletes looking to continue their careers at the professional level.

Coach Earl is very interested in developing your child's fundamental skills to prepare him/her for the next level. He has worked with children as young as three years old and is experienced with children of all ages. As a father of four girls, Coach Earl is not a babysitter and will guarantee that your child will be worked to improve their skills and hopefully learn to share Coach Earl's love for the game of basketball.

Personal training programs can be tailored to meet the needs of any athlete. Sessions can be scheduled throughout the week by calling 319-430-2537 or by e-mail at coachearl@aol.com. All sessions are held at Patriots Gateway in Rockford between the hours of 4-8pm, unless other arrangements are worked out. Sessions typically last one hour and are set up to begin on the hour. The cost of the program is $20 per hour. Family and team-discounted sessions are available upon request. Times are filling up rapidly, so make sure to take advantage of the opportunity to have your child trained by a professional athlete before it is too late.
