
LIGA MX Announces Team to Participate in the 2022 MLS All-Star Game Presented by Target

NEW YORK - Today LIGA MX unveiled the names of 25 players who will participate as part of the LIGA MX All-Star Team. The stars from across the Mexican league will face the best of Major League Soccer in the 2022 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target on Wednesday, August 10 at Allianz Field in Minnesota (8:30 p.m. ET / U.S.: ESPN, Univision; Mexico and Latin America: ESPN; Canada: TSN, TVA).
The first 12 selections were the winners and nominees for the Balón de Oro awards within the categories of Best Goalkeeper, Central Defender, Full-Back, Defensive Midfielder, Attacking Midfielder, Forward and Rookie. Balón de Oro is LIGA MX's ceremony to honor the league's best following the Apertura and Clausura seasons.
Atlas FC's Diego Cocca, upon being chosen as the Best Head Coach of the Season, selected 13 players to complement the team. The 26th player will be selected by LIGA MX Executive President Mikel Arriola in the coming days.
LIGA MX is putting forth the league's best-of-the-best as they prepare for the rematch of the 2021 MLS All-Star Game when the MLS All-Stars tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and defeated LIGA MX in a penalty-shootout. The current LIGA MX lineup features back-to-back LIGA MX champions, goalkeeper and captain of the LIGA MX All-Star team, Camilo Vargas, and midfielder Aldo Rocha from Atlas FC. In addition to Vargas, the LIGA MX 2022 Clausura MVP, and Rocha, Ángel Mena from Club Léon will be an added threat for the MLS defense.
Tickets for the 2022 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target are on sale now and available for purchase through Seat Geek.
The match will air live on ESPN and Univision in the U.S., TSN and TVA Sports in Canada, on ESPN throughout Mexico and Latin America, with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. ET.
The 2022 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target is part of the groundbreaking partnership between MLS and LIGA MX that also consist of major events on the soccer calendar, including Leagues Cup and Campeones Cup, and is committed to providing continued competitive opportunities to strengthen both leagues.
