
Liberty Gets Past Fever

On Friday, the New York Liberty (5-8) defeated the Indiana Fever (3-12), 97-83, in the third and final game of their 2022 three-game season series. With the win, New York won the season series, winning two of their three head-to-head meetings this season.
At Indiana Farmers Coliseum, the Liberty finished on 58.5% (38-65) shooting from the field, 46.4% (13-28) from three, and 100% (8-8) at the free throw line, solidifying the their position as the second-best free throw shooting team in the league (81.6%) behind Chicago (81.8%). Their 13 three-pointers marked a season-high in makes from deep.
En route to finishing with a season-high 31 assists and 97 points, New York also tallied a season-high 34 points in the third quarter to help the team go from down five at half to up nine heading into the fourth.
Tonight's victory marked Coach Sandy Brondello's 169th win as a head coach, the ninth most wins all-time in WNBA history.
Despite starting the season with a record of 1-7, New York has started the month of June 4-1, improving their overall record to 5-8.

PLAYER NOTABLES
Four Liberty players scored in double figures in tonight's game (Howard, Han, Ionescu, Johannes).
Against her former team, Natasha Howard powered the Liberty offense, finishing with a game-high 25 points on 75% (12-16) shooting from the floor. Notching her first double-double of the season and a season-high in scoring, she also added 10 rebounds and five assists.
Han Xu set a career-high in scoring for the second consecutive game with her 16-point night on 75% (6-8) shooting, including a perfect 100% (2-2) from deep. She also added five rebounds and two blocks.
Sabrina Ionescu finished with 13 points on 40% (4-10) shooting from the field, a team-high seven assists, and six rebounds.
In her season debut and first game in seafoam since 2019, Marine Johannes scored 11 points on 57.1% (4-7) shooting from the floor, including an efficient 60% (3-5) from three-point range, and dished out six assists - one shy of her career-high of seven.
For Indiana, Kelsey Mitchell finished with a team-high 23 points on 47.1% (8-17) from the field, including 50% (2-4) from behind the three-point arc.
