SUMMER SERIES: Tonight's game is the first meeting of the two-game season series between the Liberty and Sparks ... New York owns a three-game win streak when playing in the Staples Center, not having dropped a game in Hollywood since July 18, 2006.

LAST TIME AROUND: Essence Carson's driving lay-up with 20 seconds remaining helped lift the Liberty over the Sparks on August 11, 2009 at the Staples Center ... With the win, New York evened the season series at 1-1 and gained the advantage in the all-time series history (14-13).

BACK IN THE NY GROOVE: With wins over Tulsa last Friday and Connecticut on Sunday, the Liberty established its second win streak of the season ... If New York scores a victory tonight, it would tie for the longest winning streak of the season and tie for the longest stretch of wins since the 2008 season ... The Liberty's last trio of victories happened from September 2 - September 7, 2008.

OLDEST WNBA RIVALRY: The Liberty and Sparks faced off in the first-ever WNBA game on June 21, 1997 at The Forum ...New York defeated Los Angeles 67"57 ... Tonight's game is the 28th all"time meeting in the regular season series between these charter member clubs.

GO WEST, YOUNG LADIES: Beginning with tonight's game, New York is playing three games spanning 10 days ... The Liberty is 2-0 on the road when playing Western Conference clubs this summer ... After tonight, the team will visit Phoenix on Saturday and Seattle on July 6 ... New York will not play a home game until July 11, after the All-Star break.
