SUMMER SERIES: Tonight's game is the second meeting between the Liberty and the Sky ... New York leads the series at 1-0 ... The next match-up will take place in the Big Apple on July 11 ... The Liberty is 2-2 all-time in the second game of the season series versus the Sky.
LAST TIME AROUND: New York captured an Opening Day victory versus Chicago on May 16 at The Garden ... All-Stars Cappie Pondexter and Taj McWilliams-Franklin combined for 44 points to give the Liberty its first season opening win since 2007.
GOING GREENE: Rookie guard Kalana Greene was selected by the Liberty as the 13th overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft and arrived in New York riding of back-to-back perfect seasons at the University of Connecticut ... Greene showed she didn't lose a step since departing the National champs' campus in May ... She has averaged 10.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.0 apg in the past two games.
MIGHTY McCARVILLE: Last Friday in Connecticut, Janel McCarville registered 14 points, plus tied a career-high in rebounds (13) and steals (4)... The double-double performance is the sixth of her pro career ... McCarville went three for five from beyond-the-arc in this past weekend's back-to-back series ... The three-pointer she made in Connecticut was just the second of her career ... The 6-2 veteran also recorded four steals in back-to-back games, having done so previously in San Antonio on May 28 and in Connecticut on June 4.
