
Lewadniuk Scores Monthly Honour

Brandon, Manitoba - For the first time since joining the Western Hockey League club in the fall of 2008, 20-year old right-winger Aaron Lewadniuk has been chosen the Tip Top Tailors Wheat King Player of the Month Award winner for the month of December.
Entering Wednesday night's game against the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes, Lewadniuk is sitting second in team scoring with 21 goals and 51 points in 36 games. The Carman, Manitoba product currently trails Wheat King scoring leader Matt Calvert by four points after scoring twice and setting up another in Brandon's 8-2 victory over Prince Albert in the Wheat Kings' first game of 2010 this past weekend.
During the month of December, the former Winkler Flyer who was chosen Rookie of the Year in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in 2007, scored nine goals and 17 points in eleven games. His efforts helped Brandon post an impressive 9-2-0 record to move to within striking distance of the front running Saskatoon Blades in the WHL's Eastern Division.
Of his nine goals, one was a powerplay marker and two were game winners. In addition to moving into ninth place in the WHL Scoring race, "Lew" posted an impressive +11 plus / minus rating during the month
In 99 career WHL games, the 6' 180 lb Lewadniuk has scored 36 goals and 98 points.
In recognition of the monthly honour, Lewadniuk will receive a shirt, tie and suit from Tip Top Tailors in the Shoppers Mall, the official menswear clothier of the Wheat Kings during Friday night's game against the Medicine Hat Tigers at Westman Place.
Going into Wednesday's game against the 'Canes, Brandon is 27-13-0-2 on the season, good for 56 points and a share of second place in the Eastern Conference with the Calgary Hitmen. The Wheat Kings trail the first place Blades by four points.

Wednesday's game will feature a special pre-game ceremonial opening face-off, in recognition of this week's Olympic Torch Relay visit to western Manitoba. As well, International recording artist Amanda Stott will be performing the National Anthem.
