Leung-Wai named ADT Defensive Player of the Week

(Fresno, CA) â Central Valley Coyotes' defensive end Ricky Leung-Wai (lung-why) has been named ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his contributions in the Coyotes 42-31 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Dorados on Saturday in Fresno.
Leung-Wai, 6-2, 290 lbs., set a new Coyotes franchise single-game record with three sacks for a loss of 15-yards. Leung-Wai also forced one fumble and registered three quarterback hurries on defense. This marks the first time that any member of the Central Valley franchise has received an af2 weekly award.
"It's always an honor to win an award like this," said Leung-Wai. "Really the award needs to go to the entire defense including Coach Murray (defensive coordinator). Coach Murray prepares us each week for our opponent and puts us in the right positions to make plays."
On the season, Leung-Wai has tallied 8.5 tackles (6-solo), five tackles for a loss of 22-yards, four sacks for a loss of 21-yards, one forced fumble and four quarterback hurries.
The Coyotes begin a five-game divisional stand this week starting out on the road against the Hawaiian Islanders. Central Valley will return back home to Selland Arena on Saturday, May 29, as they host the Bakersfield Blitz. Kickoff is salted for 7:30 p.m., and the first 2,500 fans through the doors will receive an official pair of Coyotes Thunder Sticks to be used throughout the season.
