B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import defensive lineman Alan Harper has been added to the practice roster.
Harper was a fourth-round draft pick (121st overall) of the New York Jets in 2002. After two seasons with the Jets including one on the practice roster, Harper was allocated to NFL Europe's Scottish Claymores in 2004 where he posted 36 tackles and 3.0 sacks starting all 10 games. He then returned to the Jets the same year and appeared in 11 games recording 6 tackles and also saw action in both Jets playoff games.
Following his release from the Jets in 2005, Harper played three seasons with the Arena Football League's San Jose Saber Cats (2006-2008).
Prior to his pro playing days Harper played four seasons (1998-01) at Fresno State University where he was a college teammate of Lions cornerback Dante Marsh. He was a three-time All-Western Athletic Conference first-team pick and started 45 of the 50 games he played.
