
Lemurs Rally to Beat Sox

Laredo, TX - The Lemurs used a two-out rally in the eighth inning to pull out a 4-3 win over the Amarillo Sox Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
Amarillo (35-29) opened the scoring in the second with a two-out single by Jason Martin that plated Joe Weik.ÃâàWeik had doubled to lead off the inning.ÃâàThe Sox added another tally in the top of the fifth with three straight singles.ÃâàWith one out, Jorge Delgado drove in Chris Valencia for a 2-0 lead.ÃâàThe Lemurs (37-30) broke through to tie it in the bottom of the fifth.ÃâàDanny Poma singled and stole second.ÃâàA walk to Garrett Rau put runners at first and second with one out.ÃâàHarrison Kain then hit a grounder to short that resulted in a throwing error at second base, allowing Poma to score the first Lemurs run.ÃâàRau scored the tying run on a fielder's choice by Mike Provencher.ÃâÃÂ
With the game tied in the eighth, Laredo started a two-out rally on an infield single from Brian Peterson.ÃâàMike Sheridan followed that with a single to right.ÃâàDanny Poma then reached on catcher's interference to load the bases.ÃâàGarrett Rau gave the Lemurs the lead on an infield single of his own that scored Peterson.ÃâàSheridan also ran home on the play to make it 4-2 as an argument at first ensued.ÃâàAmarillo would threaten in the ninth but managed to score just once for the game's final margin.
Laredo reliever Jameson Maj posted the win.ÃâàMaj (1-1) worked one inning and gave up one hit with two strikeouts.ÃâàAmarillo reliever Jeff Lyman suffered the loss.ÃâàLyman (0-1) pitched two-thirds of an inning, and allowed two runs on three base hits.ÃâàMark Haynes pitched the ninth for his sixth save of the season.ÃâàHaynes gave up a run on one hit with a strikeout.ÃâàThe two teams combined for five errors in the contest as the Lemurs salvaged the finale of a three-game set with the Sox.ÃâàÃâàÃâàÃâàÃâÃÂ
First-place Laredo finished the six-game home stand with a 3-3 record.ÃâàThe Lemurs head out on the road for four games at Kansas City and three at Amarillo.
