Leiter threw 5.2 innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four and walking three in his longest outing since May 31st.

For the second game in a row, Jonathan Ornelas put the RoughRiders (14-12, 50-45) in front right away with a leadoff home run in the first. This one came on the first pitch against Edgar Escobar (7-6) and was his 11th of the year.

The Riders then added on in the fourth with three more runs. Blaine Crim ripped an RBI single to left to the plate Justin Foscue before Jordan Procyshen knocked in a couple of runs with a two-run single of his own to increase the lead to 4-0.

The Cardinals (15-11, 46-49) struck back with their only run of the game, a solo home run by Julio Rodriguez off of Leiter (3-8), in the fifth.

After Leiter, the Riders turned to James Jones out of the bullpen, who threw 1.1 innings allowing just a base runner on a walk. Grant Wolfram then tossed a scoreless frame and Grant Anderson added a runless inning in the ninth to capture his first save of the season.
