Legends Win Series Opener Over Drive, 3-1

Tanner Bushue pitched five shutout innings and Chris Wallace drove in two runs as the Lexington Legends defeated the Greenville Drive 3-1 Sunday afternoon in Greenville.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Delino DeShields led off with a walk, stole second and scored on Wallace's double.

They added a run in the sixth. DeShields led off with a single, and stole second, his 10th steal of the year. Adam Bailey's single moved DeShields to third, and Wallace's single made the score 2-0. Emilio King's solo homer in the seventh gave the Legends their final run.

The Drive scored their only run in the bottom of the eighth, when Heiker Meneses walked, and Miles Head followed with an RBI double.

Bushue (6-1) allowed three hits, struck out eight batters and walked two in getting the win. Brian Streilein took over in the sixth, and Jorge DeLeon worked the final inning and two-thirds to pick up his seventh save. Greenville starter Manuel Rivera (4-2) was the losing pitcher.

Game two of the three-game series will be played Monday night at 7 p.m. in Greenville.
