Legends to appear in HBO film
January 26, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Southern California Legends News Release
Azusa, CA. The highly-ranked ABA Southern California Legends proved their team has great depth with their victory over the LA Aftershock, 119-104. The Legends were forced to change their starting line-up and had to go to their bench for an ABA game. It seems that the starting five were permitted to miss practice this week because they were appearing in an HBO Film featuring basketball.
"In the absence of the starters, the rest of the team worked very hard, practiced hard, and they deserved the opportunity to play. I wanted to see if they would step up - and they did," stated head coach Gary Grant. "I am proud of them. We definitely have depth. The LA Aftershock isn't a team you can take lightly; I knew we had to play well to get a win."
Five of the Legends players were in double figures with Jimmy Miggins with 28 points, 7 rebounds; Marcus Williams 25 points; Tremain Fowlkes 16 points and Larry Williams 12 points. The Legends led every quarter with the largest lead being 28. The Aftershock were able to cut the lead to 6 points, but the Legends turned up the heat to end with the 15 point lead.
