ABA Mississippi team looking for a new name

January 26, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Mississippi Miracles News Release

Greenville, MS. The ABA Mississippi Stingers are looking for a new name. A "Rename the Mississippi Stingers Pep Rally" will take place on Monday, January 30th at the Washington Convention Center in Greenville, Mississippi beginning at 7pm.

ABA basketball has returned to the Mississippi Delta - and the new Mississippi team will host the Atlanta Vision at the Washington Convention Center on Tuesday, February 7th and Wednesday, February 8th at 7pm. The rejuvenated Greenville, Mississippi ABA basketball team asks the public to submit three names for the team in time for the pep rally. "I can tell you that one of the names we will not accept will be the Mississippi Cotton Pickers," jokes Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D., Chairman of the Board of Mississippi's only ABA team. "We look forward to a great new name for our ABA basketball team."
