Legends Sweep Captains, Swoop Into First

The Lexington Legends moved back into a first place tie after shutting out Lake County 3-0 on Thursday. The Legends received help from Lakewood who topped Hagerstown 6-3 in eleven innings.

The top two teams will square off in a four game series beginning Friday and eight times in the next 12 games, all in Lexington.

Jimmy Barthmaier earned his fifth win of the year with six shutout innings. Paul Estrada and Jeff Wigdahl combined for three more empty frames. Wigdahl picked up his 9th save of the season

It was a scoreless game until the fourth. Mitch Einertson belted his first homer at home, a solo shot to left field. The Legends added two runs in the sixth inning. Justin Humphries and Chris Clark each had RBI singles to make it three-nothing Legends.

The win gives the Legends the series sweep and improves Lexington mark to 7-1 against Lake County in 2005

The Legends open a critical series with first place Hagerstown on Friday. The Legends and Suns will first complete a game that was suspended on May 24th at Municipal Stadium. The game was stopped in the top of the 12th, tied at two.

The scheduled game will start at the regular start time of 7:05. The Progressive Direct pre-game show will kick off Legends Network coverage at 6:50.

Friday night is Cincinnati Reds night at Applebee's Park. The Legends will be giving away 500 pair of tickets to fans at the game.
