Lake County Captains News Release
(Lexington, KY)--Righthander Jim Barthmaier tossed six shutout innings and combined with two relievers to blank the Captains 3-0 Thursday evening at Applebee's Park.
Barthmaier (5-1) scattered three hits, walked one and struck out seven. Barthmaier, a 13th round pick of the Astros in 2003, has made two starts against the Captains this season, allowing four hits and no runs over 12 innings.
The win completed a four-game series sweep for the Legends (33-20), who moved into a first-place tie with the Hagerstown Suns. The Captains (29-25) remained 4 1/2 back with 16 left to play in the first half.
Lexington's Mitch Einertson homered off Aaron Laffey (4-2) with one out in the fourth inning to give the Legends a 1-0 lead. They added two more in the sixth on RBI singles by Justin Humphries and Chris Clark.
The Captains are now 1-7 against the Legends this season.
The Captains will return home to begin a four-game weekend series against Delmarva on Friday night at 7:05 (WELW AM 1330).
