Legends Soar Past Hawks in Erie

ERIE, PA, (Dec. 29, 2014) - After a season-topping performance against Reno on Saturday, the Legends traveled to Erie for the first of a three-game road stretch. The score was far from the 284 points posted in Frisco, but the Legends pulled away for a large second half behind veteran Mike James to take the 108-96 victory.

Drew Crawford came out firing with 12 points in the first quarter to lead the Bayhawks to a 26-21 advantage. The Legends spread the ball across eight shooters but couldn't find a rhythm, hitting 31% and only 20% from outside. As the Legends began to find their shot in the second, going 50% from the three, Seth Curry found his and blasted out 15 points to maintain Erie's lead 50-47 going into halftime. The lead changed five times before the break and the score tied up seven times, but the second half would prove to be a different story.

Eric Griffin and Mike James set the tone early combining for 24 of the team's 31 points in the third. Texas' defense shut down Erie's shooters, holding the Bayhawks to 20 with a 26% fieldgoal completion. With six and a half to play, the Legends went on an 8-0 run to take the lead they would hold to the finish. Erie answered, depleting the largest lead to that point down to 1, but Booker Woodfox answered with back to back buckets and the Legends took the 8-point advantage into the fourth. Both Mike and Damion James and Woodfox rallied for 8 points apiece to finalize the victory.

Mike James led the Legends with 22 points while Griffin (20 points, 11 rebounds) and Damion James (18 points, 11 rebounds) each added a double-double performance. Woodfox came off the bench to add 17 points, 8 rebounds and Yuki Togashi tallied a season-high 11 points in 20 minutes, shooting 3-of-4 from outside.

Curry had a game-high 23 points for the Bayhawks while Crawford (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Kadeem Batts (10 points, 13 rebounds) each tallied double-doubles. Magic assignee Devyn Marble added 19 points, 5 assists.

The Legends will travel to Maine for a noon game on December 31st before returning to Texas to take on the Austin Spurs at7:30 pm on January 2nd. Both games will be broadcast live online at www.texlegends.com.
