Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Monday, December 29, 2014 - The Erie BayHawks (7-9) were outscored by 15 in the second half to the Texas Legends (10-5) and dropped their first home game in over a month 108-96. The Legends were led by 39-year-old Mike James who had 22 points that included 19 in the final two quarters.

Erie's largest lead of the game occurred midway through the first quarter as Drew Crawford's slam put the BayHawks up 12-4. The Legends would then use a 7-0 run to cut the lead to one but Brandon Provost's buzzer beater gave Erie a five point lead heading into the second.

Another 7-0 Legends run to start the second quarter gave Texas their first lead of the game. Seth Curry, who was held scoreless in the first quarter for the first time this season, erupted for 15 points, including three three-pointers to give Erie a 50-47 lead heading into halftime.

The BayHawks controlled the lead for the first 5:30 of the third quarter until a 10-0 Legends run got Texas in front. Erie answered their opponent's run with seven straight of their own, but the Legends would respond with the next eight. Texas outrebounded the Erie 17-8 as Erie saw their early six point third quarter lead turn into an eight point deficit as the final stanza approached.

Texas would never surrender the lead as three different Legends scored eight points in the fourth quarter. Erie's Roy Devyn Marble, who had a slow first three quarters, turned it up and scored 11 straight BayHawk points in just over two minutes of action. The Legends used consistent scoring to quiet the storm as Texas eventually pulled away to win by double figures.

Erie was led by Curry with 23 points, followed by Devyn Marble's double-double that included 19 points and 10 rebounds. Crawford also got up to 19 thanks to a 17-point in first half. Kadeem Batts used his third straight double figure game to record his third double-double of the year with 10 points and a game high 13 boards.

Following Mike James' team high 22 points was Eric Griffin who put up 20 points and 11 rebounds. Damion James also snagged a double-double by adding 18 points while pulling down 11 rebounds. Booker Woodfox came off the bench for Texas to score 17 of his own to lead the Legend's reserves that put up 44 in the game.

Erie will stay home to rematch Bakersfield tomorrow at 7:00 PM as the Jam look to avenge Saturday night's loss. The BayHawks then head to Delaware to play divisional opponent 87ers for the first time this season before heading to Fort Wayne to take on the Mad Ants on Saturday.
