(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Nick Tropeano and two Lexington relievers combined to shut out the Asheville Tourists on four hits as the Legends took a 2-0 win Sunday afternoon.

Tropeano, who carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, allowed three hits in seven innings pitched. He struck out seven batters, bringing his season total to 91, second in the South Atlantic League and eight behind the leader, Jose Fernandez of Greensboro. Murilo Gouvea (2-3) pitched a scoreless eighth and got the win, and Dayan Diaz set the side down in order in the ninth for his eighth save of the season.

Asheville starter Tyler Anderson (5-1) took a shutout into the eighth inning. He pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on five hits, but was handed his first loss as a professional.

The Tourists threatened in the seventh. With two outs, Ryan Casteel reached first on an infield hit and stole second. Jose Rivera singled to center field, but Justin Gominsky's throw to catcher Roberto Pena cut down Casteel at the plate, and the game remained scoreless.

The Legends broke through against Anderson in the bottom of the eighth. Brandon Meredith led off with a triple, and scored when Gominsky singled to shallow left field over a drawn-in infield. After Pena's sacrifice bunt moved Gominsky to second, Chan Jong Moon doubled to deep center field, scoring Gominsky with the game's final run.

The game wrapped up the first half of the season for both teams. Asheville finished atop the Southern division with a record of 47-23 and earned a berth in the post-season playoffs. Lexington finished with a mark of 39-30, good for fourth place in the Southern division.

The South Atlantic League All-Star game will be played Tuesday night in Charleston, S.C. The Legends will begin the second half of the season, and a new pennant race, on Thursday against the West Virginia Power in Charleston. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
