Legends Rally for Doubleheader Split

The Lexington Legends rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh inning and defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 5-3 in the second game of a doubleheader in Greensboro Saturday. The Grasshoppers won the first game 11-1 after scoring nine runs in the third inning. Both were seven-inning games.

In the second game, the Legends trailed 3-2 going into the seventh. With one out, Drew Muren singled, stole second and came home with the tying run on a single by Roberto Pena. Justin Gominsky ran for Pena and advanced to second on a hit by Jimmy Howick. Gominsky scored the go-ahead run on a single up the middle by Delino DeShields Jr. Jordan Scott followed with a sacrifice fly to score Howick from third with the final run. It was Scott's third run batted in of the game. He had a two-run single in the top of the third.

In the first game, Greensboro had 10 hits in their big third inning, including a leadoff home run by Ryan McIntyre. After a ground out, the next nine Greensboro batters hit safely. McIntyre had a two-run double in the inning in addition to his homer, and James Wooster also had a two-run double in the inning.

Greensboro has won two out of three in the series, which concludes Sunday with a 4 p.m. game.
