
Legends Lose in 11, 3-2

The Kannapolis Initimidators needed 11 innings and 14 hits to score three runs, but they got past the Lexington Legends 3-2 in Kannapolis Tuesday night.
The Legends took the lead in the top of the second inning. Marques Williams singled, Chris Jackson walked, and Eric Suttle followed with a double to left center field, scoring both Williams and Jackson.
Jordan Lyles worked the first five innings for Lexington. He allowed five hits, walked one batter and struck out five.
Kannapolis scored its first run in the sixth inning. With one out, Luis Sierra singled. He went to second on Lexington reliever Henry Villar's errant pickoff attempt, and to third on a wild pitch. He scored on Jared Mitchell's single.
The Intimidators tied it at 2-2 in the seventh. Josh Phegley led off with a double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Eduardo Escobar.
With one out in the eleventh, Phegley and Escobar singled to put runners at first and second. Ryan Lee followed with a base hit to left field, and Phegley, who had stopped at third, came home with the winning run when left fielder Marques Williams overran the ball.
Drew O'Neil (3-0) picked up the win for Kannapolis. Patrick Urckfitz (4-1) took the loss for the Legends, who have lost eight in a row.
The series continues in Kannapolis Wednesday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
