Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC - A Ryan Lee's base hit would not have been quite enough to send Kannapolis to a win in the 11th inning on Tuesday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. A Ryan Lee hit and a Marques Williams error did the job however, as the Intimidators walked off with a 3-2 win in 11 innings.

Lee singled through the left side of the infield with runners at first and second and one out in the 11th off of Patrick Urckfitz (4-1). Intimidators manager Ernie Young held runner Josh Phegley at third, but the ball got past Williams in leftfield to allow the catcher to score the winning run.

The Intimidators had rallied earlier in the game to make up for a two-run deficit. Jared Mitchell drove in a run in the sixth and Eduardo Escobar tied the contest with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Both runs were charged to Henry Villar, who took a blown save for his efforts.

For the most part Lexington had done a good job keeping the Intimidators from pushing ahead. Kannapolis left 11 men on base, including the bags loaded in the eighth inning. Jordan Lyles did not factor in the decision, despite working five scoreless innings in his start.

Joe Serafin made the start for the Intimidators and surrendered two runs - both on an Eric Suttle double in the second inning - in six innings of work. The Kannapolis bullpen picked up the southpaw, combining for five shutout frames.

Kevin Asselin and Kyle Bellamy each atoned for a rough series in Asheville earlier this week with two scoreless innings apiece. Drew O'Neil (3-0) worked a perfect top of the 11th to secure the win.
