MEXICO CITY, MX - The Mexico City Capitanes (3-1) put up 40 points in the fourth quarter to take down the Texas Legends (2-2) 120-97 on their first trip South of the border.
The Legends lost a season-high 19 turnovers, but it was a dominant fourth-quarter performance that sealed the victory for the home team. With 8-of-9 active players on the board, Mexico City shot at a 71% clip (67% outside) in the fourth to build up a double-digit deficit and take the first of a two-game stand.
The two teams stayed within nine points and went through nine lead changes in the first three quarters. Texas jumped ahead twice midway through the third but a three-pointer from Gary Clark would give the Capitanes their ultimate lead of the night.
Jaden Hardy powered the Legends' efforts with 26 points, 5 rebounds while Tyler Dorsey added on 20 points, 7 rebounds. Grant Riller came off the bench for 12 points, and Yudai Baba added the final double-digit performance with 10 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Clark finished with the game's only double-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds. Mason Jones posted 22 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, and Jahlil Okafor added on 17 points, 6 rebounds.
The two teams will meet again Wednesday night at 8pm CT. Fans can catch all the action live at www.TexLegends.com and on the Legends Facebook page.
