Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 6, 2014) - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), hosted the Iowa Energy for the first and only time this season. Coming into tonight's game, the Legends were 18-22 sitting second to last in the Central Division while Iowa was 21-13 holding second place in the division.
The Legends got off to a rough start with six turnovers in the first quarter. After shooting 61% in the second, the home team went into the locker room up 62-58. The third quarter was controlled strictly by the Legends who went on a 19-6 run to take their largest lead of 19 points before heading into the final 12 minutes. Iowa was fueled by the deficit to go on a 19-6 run of their own, tying up the game less than four minutes into the fourth. They subsequently took the lead with a layup from Austin Freeman before the Legends regained the control they would hold through the final buzzer. Damion James posted 13 points and grabbed 8 boards in the final quarter to seal the Legends' 126-119 victory.
James led the Legends in scoring with 34 while also adding a season-high 19 rebounds and going 5-7 from long distance. Ricky Ledo added 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the Legends. The Energy had six players in double-digits with Glen Rice Jr. and Chris Allen adding 18 each to top the scoring.
Legends fans celebrated the work of the Austin Street Center with custom jerseys presented by Central KIA. Austin Street is a full-service facility that works with homeless men and women in the Dallas metroplex to get the resources and services needed to create change for a positive future.
The Legends will return to action Saturday as they take on the Tulsa 66ers on the road. Fans can catch all the action live on the NBA D-League YouTube channel. For more information on the team or the full season schedule call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
