The Lexington Legends broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on their way to a 7-3 win over the Rome Braves Saturday night.

With one out in the eighth, Chase Vallot walked, Brandon Downes singled and Corey Toups walked to load the bases. Michael Hill's single scored Vallot with the tie-breaking run, and a base hit by Humberto Arteaga brought home two more runs. Ryan O'Hearn's two-out single scored Hill to give the Legends their final margin.

Lexington scored a run in the first on a walk to Arteaga, a stolen base, an infield hit by Alfredo Escalera and a sacrifice fly by O'Hearn. Wander Franco's solo home run in the fourth gave the Legends a 2-0 lead.

Rome tied the game with two runs in the fifth. With two outs and no one on base, Erison Mendez singled and scored on a double by Tanner Murphy. Joseph Daris walked and Ozzie Albies singled to load the bases. Omar Obregon's single to left field brought home the tying run, but Escalera threw out Daris at the plate to end the inning.

The Legends took a 3-2 lead with a run in the seventh, but Rome tied the game again with a run in the top of the eighth before the Legends broke the game open in the bottom half.

Corey Ray (1-3), who entered the game in the top of the eighth, got the win. Francisco Gonzalez (1-2) took the loss.

The Legends have won the first two games of the series, which concludes Sunday with the final game of the first half of the season. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. The Legends will begin the second half with a five-game series in Savannah starting Thursday.
