Greenville Drive News Release
Lakewood, NJ - The Greenville Drive kept the Lakewood BlueClaws off the board to keep their first half Southern Division title hopes alive on Saturday night, picking up a 3-0 victory to improve to 38-31 on the season.
Dedgar Jimenez (5-3) came through with a phenomenal start for Greenville, firing six shutout innings and allowing five hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Jamie Callahan threw the next inning and two-thirds, while Carlos Pinales recorded the final four outs to notch his third save.
The Drive took advantage of Lakewood starter Yoel Mecias (0-1) issuing a pair of walks in the top of the first when Jordan Procyshen grounded an RBI single into left to score Derek Miller.
Procyshen drove home the Drive's second run of the evening as well with a third-inning sacrifice fly that plated Rafael Devers, who doubled to begin the inning. Procyshen finished the night 2-3 with a pair of RBI.
Joseph Monge scored Greenville's final run in the sixth when he reached on a fielder's choice, swiped second and third and came home on a Mike Meyers RBI single.
With one game left in the first half, the Drive and Savannah Sand Gnats remain tied for first place in the Southern Division. Savannah holds the tiebreaker due to an advantage in head-to-head record, so the Drive need a win and a Savannah loss on Sunday to win the first half title.
The Drive and BlueClaws will wrap up the first half on Sunday afternoon in Lakewood, with first pitch at 1:05 PM. LH Jalen Beeks (6-3, 3.80) starts on the hill for the Drive, and the BlueClaws counter with LH Josh Taylor (3-5, 4.79).
