The West Virginia Power lost 13-7 to the Lexington Legends on Tuesday night at Appalachian Power Park. Lexington amassed 17 hits and claimed two of three from West Virginia during the short series.
The Legends took a 1-0 lead after one inning against Power starter Ryan Hafner. West Virginia, however, answered with a three-run second inning to take the lead. Jose Osuna reached on an error and scored on a two-base hit by Willy Garcia. Junior Sosa singled in Garcia and then scored on a sac fly from Carlos Mesa for a 3-1 lead.
Lexington would quickly rebound with a three-run third to take a 4-3 advantage. Zach Johnson hit a three-run home run to left off Hafner to put the Legends up for good. Lexington would score three more in the fourth, two in the fifth,and four in the sixth to account for all of their offense.
West Virginia managed to plate individual runs in the fifth, sixth, eighth, and ninth innings, including solo home runs by Junior Sosa and Alen Hanson.
Hafner (0-3) took the loss after allowing seven runs on seven hits over three and a third, while Jonas Dufek (1-0) gained the win after pitching six innings of seven hit, five run ball.
West Virginia travels to Greenville to open a four-game series against the Drive on Thursday night. The Power will start their next homestand on May 24 against the Kannapolis Intimidators.
