
BlueClaws Cruise to 7-1 Win over Shorebirds

Salisbury, Md. - The Lakewood BlueClaws (14-23) held the Delmarva Shorebirds (18-20) without a run over the final eight innings and cruised to a 7-1 win in the series finale on Wednesday morning at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds went 3-4 during the homestand. Shorebirds first baseman, Connor Narron, went 3-for-3 in the loss. It was his first three-hit game of the season.
The Shorebirds lone run came in the first inning. Glynn Davis hit a lined double towards right-center field to open the inning. With two outs and Davis at third, Jason Esposito singled through the right side of the infield to give the Shorebirds a 1-0 lead.
Lakewood took the lead in the second on RBIs by Logan Moore and Kyrell Hudson. The inning was set up by Harold Martinez, who walked and Brian Pointer, who doubled.
The BlueClaws added two runs in the third. Kelly Dugan doubled to begin the inning and later scored on a wild pitch by Parker Birdwell. Maikel Franco was hit by a pitch and later scored on a fielder's choice grounder by Moore. Bridwell faced eight batters in the third.
In the fourth inning, Lakewood took a 5-1 lead on a sacrifice fly to center field by Dugan. The 'Claws added runs in the seventh and ninth innings on hits by Pointer and Moore.
Bridwell lasted four innings and yielded six hits and five runs. He walked three batters and struck out two.
Devin Jones entered in the fifth inning and pitched the final five innings. He surrendered seven hits and two runs.
Lakewood reliever Mike Nesseth earned the win over three innings of middle relief. He allowed just one hit.
The Shorebirds begin a seven-game road trip on Thursday night at 7:05pm against the Hagerstown Suns. RHP Zach Davies is the scheduled starter for the Shorebirds.
