Georgia Force News Release
FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - Georgia Force WR/LB Derek Lee and OL/DL Jermaine Smith were selected to the All-Arena first team for the 2006 season.
Lee, in his second AFL season, recorded 127 receptions for 1,427 yards and 26 touchdowns on offense, while adding 15.5 tackles, three interceptions, three pass defenses and one fumble recovery on defense. Lee's 127 catches set a new franchise mark for receptions in a single-season, breaking the previous mark of 113, set by Lee last year. He also led all WR/LB's in receptions during the regular season. Lee returned his third interception of the season 45 yards for a score in Georgia's, 55-20, win over Chicago in Week 14.
For Smith, the honor marks the second consecutive season in which he has been named to the All-Arena first team and the third time in his career (2003 and 2005). He posted 16.5 tackles, six sacks, eight pass defenses, three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, three blocked kicks and a safety in 16 games. Smith's six sacks surpassed the club's previous record of 5.5, which was set by Smith in 2003.
The Force will play the New York Dragons on Sunday, May 21, at 3:00 p.m., in Nassau Coliseum. Georgia finished the regular season 8-8 and New York finished 10-6.
