Two Avengers selected to All-Arena Teams
May 17, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Los Angeles Avengers News Release
LOS ANGELES -- Avenger kicker Remy Hamilton, who broke his own Arena Football League record for field goal percentage this season, was selected to the Arena Football League's All-Arena First Team on Wednesday.
Wide receiver/defensive back Kevin Ingram, who had yet another outstanding season for the Avengers, was selected to the All-Arena Second Team.
Hamilton's selection means that the Avengers have had a representative on the First Team in all seven of their seasons in the AFL. Los Angeles has now placed 11 players on the First Team since its inaugural season in 2000. No other team in league history has been represented on the First Team for more than seven consecutive seasons or had more first-teamers since 2000 than the Avengers.
The 2005 AFL "Kicker of the Year," Hamilton is now the first kicker in AFL history to earn back-to-back First Team honors. In addition, this is his third consecutive All-Arena selection, having been named to the Second Team in 2004.
Displaying stunning accuracy and consistency, Hamilton was 27-of-36 on field goals in 2006, which translates to a 75 percent success rate. Last season, he cashed in on 74.4 percent (29-of-39) of his field goal attempts, breaking the previous AFL record of 72 percent (18-of-25) set by Jay Taylor of the Orlando Predators in 2004.
Hamilton was a near-perfect 25-of-26 (96.2 percent) on his three-pointers from inside of 38 yards and 92-of-98 (93.9 percent, No. 1 in the AFL) on extra points in 2006. For the second consecutive season, he led all AFL kickers in scoring with 173 points (his closest competitor was 29 points behind). Hamilton also finished the 2006 season with 11.5 special teams tackles (tied for No. 18 in the league).
Ingram, the 2005 AFL "Ironman of the Year" and a two-time All-Arena First Team selection (2004 and 2005), led the Avengers in receptions (111), receiving yards (1,354), touchdowns (34), and all-purpose yards (1,787) this season. He also had a team-high five interceptions and made 47 tackles. Statistically, he had a much better offensive campaign this season than he did in 2005, when he won the "Ironman of the Year" award after catching 88 passes for 1,052 yards and 24 touchdowns.
