Columbus Destroyers News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Arena Football League today announced that Columbus Destroyers defensive specialist Jerald Brown has been named 2006 First Team All-Arena. Brown is the first Destroyers player in franchise history to be named to the First Team. Two Buffalo Destroyers players were named Second Team All-Arena (DS Dwaine Carpenter, 2003 and K Steve McLaughlin, 2002).
Brown (5-11, 185, Glenville State) in his first full season, third overall, had a breakout season. Brown finished second in the AFL in interceptions (11) and interception return yards (133). He added 65.0 tackles (53UT-24AT), 14 pass breakups and two fumble recoveries, one of which he returned 40 yards for a touchdown.
This is Brown's second League honor this season as he was named the ADT Defensive Player of the Month for March. He was named ADT Defensive Player of the Game on three occasions. The League will announce the ADT Defensive Player of the Year award on Tuesday, May 30.
The Destroyers are now accepting season ticket deposits from new customers for the 2007 season. For more information call (614) 246-HITS.
