League Leaders Clash at Falconi Field
June 21, 2004 - Frontier League (FL)
Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA â The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, who sit in first place in the Eastern Division of the Frontier League host the Windy City Thunderbolts, the Western Division leaders to a three game series at Falconi Field this Tuesday through Thursday.
The Wild Things enter the series with a franchise-tying eight game winning streak and a 19-10 record, while the Windy City Thunderbolts enjoy a 2 game win streak and a season record of 20 wins and 8 losses.
"This should be an exciting series," said Ross Vecchio, general manager of the Wild Things. "It's exciting because of the records the two teams hold, and it'll be fun because Joe Charbonneau (who coached for the Wild Things during the last two seasons) will return with the Thunderbolts. That adds a certain competitive flavor to the games."
Windy City enters the contest with the best team batting average in the league (.287) while Washington sits in second place with .279.
The Thunderbolts have the third best hitter in the league. Peanut Williams has a .410 batting average this season.
