
Lazare Returns to Mad Ants

Fort Wayne, IN, (November 2, 2011) - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants announced today that their 2010-11 team's leading scorer, Darnell Lazare, has signed a contract with the Mad Ants and the NBA Development League.
"We are obviously very excited to make the announcement that Darnell will be in a Mad Ants uniform again," said Mad Ants President Jeff Potter. "He was one of the toughest forwards in the league last season, and he was a strong leader on and off the court for our team. I have high expectations for him this season."
Lazare played in all 50 games for the Mad Ants last season and averaged 16.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He recorded a season high 36 points against the Maine Red Claws on 1/1/11 and another 30 point performance against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on 4/2/11.
Other returners that will join Lazare on the training camp roster include, Walker Russell Jr., Ron Howard, Chris Hunter, Marvin Phillips Jr., and Corey Allmond. The Mad Ants are also inviting Antonio Smith, a 6'9" forward out of Michigan State, to training camp via open tryouts. The remaining roster spots will be filled tomorrow as the Mad Ants select 10th in the NBA Development League Draft.
