Arizona Sundogs News Release

INDEPENDENCE, MO - Three third period goals by the Arizona Sundogs cut the deficit to one, but the Missouri Mavericks held on for a 4-3 win on Friday night at the Independence Events Center.

John-Scott Dickson recorded a hat-trick for the Mavericks (23-15-4) with all three goals coming on the power play.

Down 4-0 in the third, Jesse Perrin put Arizona (13-23-7) on the board with a shorthanded goal 5:58 into the frame. Kevin Petovello then added a power play goal for the Sundogs late in period and Tyler Butler extended his point streak to four games with a strike from the bottom of the right circle with 13 seconds left in the game.

It was the 23rd one-goal game for the Sundogs this season, second in the CHL behind Texas.

The Mavericks took control of the game with a pair of power play goals in the opening five minutes of the contest. Dickson was credited with both goals on deflection efforts in front of the net.

Andrew Courtney extended the Mavericks' lead to 3-0 with a goal from the slot in the final second of period two.

Dickson's hat trick goal came on the man-advantage in the third period's opening minutes.

Charlie Effinger earned the win for the Mavericks with 29 saves. Arizona's Scott Reid took the loss, stopping 22.

The Sundogs finished 1-for-5 on the power play. Missouri went 3-for-7 with Dickson scoring all three goals.

The Sundogs and Mavericks wrap up their weekend set on Saturday at 6:05 PM MST.
