
Blaze Reach Two-Thirds Mark with Trip to Quad City

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, will cross the two-thirds point of the Central Hockey League season with a Saturday night visit to their closest geographical rival, the Quad City Mallards.
The Blaze are 2-3-1 against the Mallards this season, but Bloomington has won the last two matchups, most recently a 2-1 triumph on January 15 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The Blaze are 15-24-2 (32 points, 7th Turner Conference) and are coming off a 6-6-0 January, while the Mallards are 23-17-1, good for 47 points and a fourth-place tie in the division. Forward Brodie Sheahan is expected to return to the Blaze lineup from a shoulder injury in time to face the team against which he has scored one goal and seven assists, leading the Blaze in scoring against the Flock. Defenseman Aaron Dawson leads active Blaze skaters in goals against the Mallards, scoring three of his season's seven lamp-lighters against Quad City. The Mallards are paced by forward Brandon Marino, who leads the CHL with 27 goals and is tied for the league lead with 57 points.
Saturday's contest at iWireless Center in Moline begins at 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on WJBC.comand viewed on CHL-TV. Fans are invited to watch the game at Gill Street Sports Bar and Restaurant, 3002 Gill Street in Bloomington. The Blaze return home on Tuesday to face the first-place Evansville IceMen for a 7:05 p.m. face-off at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on a Two for Tuesday Night, featuring two bowl seats for only $14 and $2 hot dogs, Pepsi products and popcorn throughout the game.
After a trip to Dayton on Thursday, the Blaze come home for three straight games in the following week, beginning with a Friday, February 10 matchup against the Arizona Sundogs on a promotion-packed night. The first 1,500 fans to Friday's game receive a Blaze cap compliments of Carpets Plus ColorTile, and the Blaze will be wearing special jerseys commemorating the CHL's 20th season which will be auctioned after the game. It's also a regular Friday Pepsi Date Night, when fans who bring a Pepsi product to the Coliseum box office when buying a ticket receive a second ticket free, and combo meals are two-for-one all night.
