
Late Spokane homer topples AquaSox

EVERETT, WASH. - A home run by Michael Nickeas broke a 3-3 tie and handed the Spokane Indians a 4-3 victory over the Everett AquaSox Saturday night in Everett, Wash.
Nickeas' homer came in the eighth inning and was his second of the season. The catcher was 2 for 4 on the night.
The AquaSox took a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning but relinquished it in the form of another home run to Spokane's Brandon Cashman. It was his first home run of the year.
Everett starter Ruben Flores struck out an AquaSox' season-high eight batters in five innings of work. He walked two and allowed just two runs - both unearned.
The Sox didn't have much to show for their 10 hits in the game. The team scored just three runs and left 14 men on base. In addition to their hits, the Sox took them the hard way; Everett batters were hit by pitches four times in the game. The Sox' Mike Ellison was hit twice.
Everett and Spokane face each other again at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Everett Memorial Stadium. It's Mascot Mania Night and the first 1,000 fans through the gates receive "The Clapper" noise makers. Gates open at 3 p.m.
