HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs came from behind in the third period to force overtime and eventually win the game 3-2 in a shootout on Wednesday night at Copps Coliseum. The win improved the Bulldogs record to 27-24-6-5 and pulled them one point behind the Edmonton Road Runners for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division.

Albany opened the scoring 42 seconds into the game when Zach Parise jammed in a rebound from a Pascal Rheaume shot. Ryan Murphy added the other assist on Parise's 14th goal of the season.

The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at the 3:57 mark of the first period. Annti Miettinen scored his sixth goal of the season when he banked a high wrist shot off of River Rat forward Rheaume into the back of the net. Chris Higgins and Tomas Plekanec assisted on the goal.

The River Rats took a 2-1 lead at 5:36 of the third period when Ivan Khomutov scored off a shot that bounced off the end boards back through Yann Danis' legs. Aleksander Suglobov and Ray Schultz recorded assists on Khomutov's fifth goal of the season.

With 5:33 remaining in the third period, Marc-Andre Thinel found himself alone in front of the net and buried a low shot stick side on River Rats netminder Scott Clemmensen. The goal made the score 2-2 and was assisted by Jason Ward and Steve Ott.

After a scoreless overtime, the game headed to a shoot-out. Andrei Kostitsyn and James Sanford scored for the Bulldogs while goaltender Yann Danis was perfect stopping all four of the Albany shooters he faced and earning the Bulldogs the victory.

Albany goaltender Scott Clemmensen was solid in net for the River Rats, stopping 49 of the 51 shots he faced and was named the game's first star in a losing effort.

The Bulldogs next game is on Friday, March 11th against the Chicago Wolves at Copps Coliseum.
