
Late Rally Falls Short in 3-1 Loss

Modesto, CA. - In a pitcher's duel, the Modesto Nuts fell to the Visalia Rawhide 3-1 on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.
In the bottom of the ninth, Wes Rogers cracked an RBI double to start the comeback attempt against the Rawhide (24-14) closer Bud Jeter (S, 2/2). Dom Nunez followed with a single to put men at first and third. From there, Jeter was lights out with three straight K's to finish off the Nuts (16-22).
Parker French (L, 2-1) was solid again for the Nuts working seven innings and allowing just three runs despite allowing nine hits with three K's and no walks. French allowed a RBI double to Tyler Baker in the second. Dawel Lugo drove in a run with a single in the fourth. Chuck Taylor added a third tally with a RBI groundout in the seventh.
Lucas Irvine (W, 3-0) was dominant until the seventh inning. The righty retired 16 in a row after a first-inning single. In the seventh he walked two before leaving the game. Max White drove in the lone run for the Nuts with a bloop RBI single. Irvine struck out four and allowed just one hit.
