Jack Campbell made 36 saves overall while Matt Fraser scored twice for Texas.
Texas took an early 1-0 lead courtesy of Jamie Oleksiak's third of the year just 4:40 into the first. The defenseman fired a shot from the point that hit off the post and found its way past Jake Allen. Colton Sceviour scored a shorthanded goal at the 18:16 mark to make it 2-0 contest.
At the 7:30 mark of the second frame Maxime Fortunus forced in a rebound to make it 3-0. Roussel and Mike Hedden added assists on the play. The 13th goal of the year by Fraser, on the power play increased, Texas's lead to four goals. With just 1:20 left in the period, Sceviour made a between the legs pass to Fraser, who was alone on the doorstep to tap in the tally.
Adam Cracknell broke the shutout 3:43 into the third period. Cracknell received a cross-ice pass from T.J. Hensick and roofed the puck over Jack Campbell for his seventh goal of this campaign. Derek Nesbitt had the secondary assist on the goal.
With 11:08 remaining in the third, Brent Regner, shorthanded, scored his first goal of season to cut the Texas lead in half. Andrew Murray and Jaden Schwartz combined to get Regner the puck on a 3-on-1 break.
Peoria pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker with 1:56 remaining in regulation. After multiple Rivermen chances, Fraser put in his second of the night into an empty net to make the score 5-2.
