Houston, TX - The Houston Aeros (18-11-2-3, 41 points) defeated the San Antonio Rampage (13-18-0-4, 30 points) 1-0 on Saturday night in front of 6,045 fans at Toyota Center. Houston goalie Darcy Kuemper (5-3-0) finished with 19 saves on the evening, posting his second shutout of the season. Forward Nick Petersen took care of the offense, scoring the game's lone goal to help Houston improve to 12-5-1-2 at home this season. San Antonio goalie Dov Grumet-Morris (4-7-2) stopped 28 of 29 Houston shots in the defeat, as the Rampage saw its four-game points streak come to an end. Houston will visit in-state rival Texas at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday at Cedar Park Center.
After a scoreless first period of play, Aeros forward Nick Petersen gave his club a 1-0 lead at 5:30 of the second period. Defenseman Brian Connelly and forward Jason Zucker each had an assist on the power-play goal. Petersen jammed in a rebound to for his second goal of the season and a one-goal lead after forty minutes of action.
The Aeros round out the weekend with a 5 p.m. faceoff on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Texas. Houston will return home on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Sunday, Jan 13. The Aeros host the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:05 p.m. on Jan. 12 and the Charlotte Checkers at 5:05 p.m. on Jan. 13. The Aeros will host a book drive, which begins on Saturday, Jan. 12 and concludes after the game on Sunday, Jan. 13. For every book that is donated, the Aeros will reward the donor with two tickets to a select home game (limit - five books per person). Fans may donate their books on the concourse by section 107. All the donated books will be collected and delivered to the Texas Children's Hospital, assisting the "It's My Heart" program.
